Work Study Program

Monarch Academy has developed a work study and supported employment program for adolescents with mild autism. The program is completely community-based. All of the students in the program are working, learning to access the Votran Gold bus system, and volunteering and receiving valuable on the job experience. Some individuals work for one hour while others work a half a day per week. Work Study is considered an elective for credit at the high school level. One credit is allotted per year. A work study program provides an important step in this process by assisting students to make smoother transitions from high school to adult life. This allows a better chance of becoming employed by meeting personal long-range goals.
